In
a perfect world there would be a full time music therapist on every
floor of every hospital and available for every Hospice patient
and family member who needs it. Since this does not exist, we created
Sounds of Comfort (501c3) non-profit organization to help
bring music therapy where it is needed most.
Research clearly
shows that music is effective in decreasing agitation and other
negative symptoms in Alzheimers and dementia patients. Music
often acts as a bridge to help access lost memories and yet there
is not enough music in most care centers. Sounds of Comfort
is dedicated to bringing quality music to people in need:
- In hospitals
- In nursing
homes
- In Hospice
facilities
- In private
homes
Sounds of Comfort is funded by private donations, by fundraising
concerts and events organized by Rhythmic Medicine. Your private
donation is used to pay music therapists and Sounds of Comfort
certified musicians to provide live music for Hospice, hospital
and nursing home patients. We acknowledge your contribution with
a letter of appreciation, confirming your tax-deductible donation
and will let you know of any upcoming events or concerts. With a
donation of $150 or more, we will send you a Words
of Comfort blanket
of your choice as a thank you gift.

When you walked through the door
of my hospital room, I could not believe you were going to play
beautiful music just for me! What a blessing and an honor! I have
never heard music played with such passion the violin and
piano lifted my spirits and filled my heart with joy. Thank you
for making such a positive difference in my hospital stay.
